Synopsis
A modern tale of fortune-hunting in the world of West Texas oil rigs
Check out writer/director Taylor Sheridan’s most popular movies and TV shows on IMDb, ranked by user ratings. A landowner, at least one who works in the oil industry, will be the middleman between exploration companies and landowners.
They essentially manage the land and obtain leases so they can drill for oil and gas
Typically, a landowner’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, build housing for workers (man camp), assemble mining machinery, and drill the wells themselves, especially in remote locations.
Mentioned on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #4424 (2022)
They are also the repairman, troubleshooter, and facilitator. If you were a fan of Mayor of Kingstown, you’ll enjoy this series as well.
Billy Bob Thornton delivers his grizzled, sarcastic, no-nonsense lines with typical Billy Bob Thornton sarcasm
Even the opening credits are similar in style and imagery, I think that’s a Taylor Sheridan trademark. There’s a scene in one of the early episodes where Thornton’s character gives a long speech about the necessity of oil in all areas of our lives, which certainly seems like propaganda written into the plot of the oil industry, but nothing he says is false.
It’s pretty funny that the first few episodes are sponsored by the American Petroleum Institute and feature ads featuring oil workers
Overall, I think this is going to be a great series, the writing is great, the acting is great, and the characters are very human.
